How Fife 4×4 Response started

Fife 4×4 Response was established in 2011 following the previous severe winter which caused transport problems for many. The group’s purpose is to provide transport and logistic assistance to essential services such as Fife Council, NHS, and others.

The group is made up of volunteers who can be asked to use their 4×4 vehicles to transport people such as Home Carers, NHS Fife medical staff, other Emergency Services, or to transport essential equipment when roads are not suitable for normal vehicles. They do not provide a “taxi service”, nor are they a breakdown or recover service and are only called out following a request from the organisations mentioned above.

The group has strong links with Fife RAYNET who provide communications and logistic support, Fife Council Emergency Planning and Social Work. We are members of the National 4×4 Response Network
